Where do they come from? : . : Aliens : . : Are they really here?

: . : So, here we go, the first rant. Now, I know what you're thinking, "He's just one of those fanatics who believes in everything that he sees, and wants the extra attention that is brought along with claiming to have been abducted by aliens." either that or, "Is he talking about Cubans or extra-terrestrials?" Now, to answer both of those questions: I have never been abducted by aliens, nor do I think I will ever be, and I am very sceptical about anyone who claims to have, and I am talking about extra-terrestrial aliens, not victims of an old man's dictatorship. Now that we have those out of the way, we can get down to business.

: . : Before any of this begins, I must insist that you keep an open mind, while at the same time guarding what you believe. Things of incredible nature which cannot be substantially and irrefutably proven whether through spiritual or physical experience should not be firmly believed in. Likewise, on such subjects unanswered, one should look upon them with skepticism and realize that they will never truly have all of the answers, holding no specific ideology, but recognizing the strong and weak points of any argument thereabout.

: . : Now that all of that is over with, we can get down to business. We will play this out in a chronological way, just for the sake of order and ease. I suppose that the first things in history that people try to attribute to alien life would be perhaps the dawn of man. Now, if this were true, this alien race is either closely observing us, or waiting until we're ready to introduce themselves to us. I say that this idea does not work because their technology would be so advanced by this time (after advancing 2,000,000 years) that A) Alien sightings would not exist due to the flawlessness of their technology and B) They would have intervened in some way to prevent us from developing the methods of destroying our planet. No matter what anyone says, no one creates something to watch it be destroyed.

: . : The next thought of alien intervention would be in ancient monoliths and structures and remnants of our oldest civilizations. For a very long time we have been learning more and more about these things. Some may ask why we don't know very much about ancient civilizations that spawned on this planet long ago. Most historians attribute this to lack of standardized written language, and also in part to the burning of the library in Alexandria. The library in Alexandria almost 2000 years ago was the depository for all history and sciences texts in the known World. If they didn't have it, they found it. If they couldn't get it, they stole it. They took great pride in claiming to own every book in the known world. It must be said that it didn't exactly burn down. It was no big accident. After the fall of the Roman Empire, barbarian whords swepts across the continent, and one of the larger ones landed in Alexandria. They found this building, filled with combustable products (namely books and scrolls), and camped out there for a very long time, until all of it was used up feeding the flames of their camp fires, and then they moved on. Every book was burned, one at a time. When this library was lost, it took the written world down with it. Sad, really; but also off topic. It is now mostly understood how ancient civilizations went to great lengths to build amazing structures and such to please their rulers and their gods. They were remarkably creative in the things that they did to accomplish these tasks, to an extent rarely realized in this era. We fancy ourselves innovators, but our satisfaction with our technology has made us stagnant when it comes to innovation, in comparison to these ancient civilizations.

: . : Next on the list is, of course, the prophecies of Nostradamus. In my mind, in some ways, this man was the first science fiction writer, and I wonder just why it is that word of his prophecies have endured for this long. For those of you who are less fortunate, Nostradamus (Michel de Nostradame) was originally a physician, then became a "seer". His works were first published in 1555AD (there's an easy date to remember) and by some abnormal means, have not been out of print since then. Nostradamus predicted all sorts of aweful things for this small world, and some of them, mostly ones more immediately after their publication, came true. I will not delve too far into this, for the prophecies of Nostradamus are a complicated issue which have had countless books written on them. The fact is, his books were written in Centuries instead of Chapters, predicting events in language so cryptic, it makes the prophetic books of the Bible look like paint by numbers. If one interprets them the right way, the scarry part is, they all too easily become accurate accounts of world events, even with years and dates, up to and beyond this very day. I'm not entirely sure where it got out that these were prophecies of alien invasion, but they aren't. They are of human folly causing war, climaxing with the rise of the anti-Christ and the death of the Pope and the Church. No, no aliens, except at the very end, but they seem to be related to the anti-christ. They are strangers, and they just come and smite us all, it's really a very short passage at the very end of his book.

: . : Moving right along, we will procede into the modern era of science fiction and science fact, where things "get wierd". No one really knows were it all began, but once one man comes out with a story, another will hear it and come out with his own. Mankind likes stories. They make people listen, and they make people think. All too often we are too good at making stories, and this makes a problem. It is a fact that the governments of both Canada and USA have in the past, developed agencies whos sole purpose was to quell the rising suspicion of alien visitation to this planet. This information is documented, and even now admitted by the American government. The important question is, were they destroying evidence, or just subduing paranoia?

: . : That's the scary part. A great deal of the people who have worked with these agencies have come forward and given testimony at great length, telling people of the paranormal things that they saw, and even having pictures that they snuck home at night to show their families to back it all up with. What else is funny is, the evidence that they have mysteriously vanishes regularly, even after having been documented and catalogued and recorded. As far as personal alien contact goes, these people are really no further along with that than anyone else.

: . : UFO sigtings. Now there's a funny one. Weather balloons and gas pockets they are. Now, is it really so funny? Some would say, if there were actually any real sightings, wouldn't I have seen it in the paper. Well, it has been in the paper. The New York Times once had a front page about mysterious floating disks that flew and hovered above the White House twice in two weeks. Staying there for over 30 mins each time. The official government report says that it was gas pockets in the atmosphere. Hmm, independantly flying and hovering, yellow glowing saucers, i guess it must be gas. Stomach pains are easily shrugged off by being called gas, this is not.

: . : There are fully documented findings of mass sightings, like the one is Mexico City where hundreds of people caught on tape several low-flying (less than 500m from ground) saucers, flying above the city all day. All of these things don't easily go away. Evidence disappears, but people insist that they have seen these things, and there are so many video tapes with actual, verifiable "Unidentified Flying Objects" on them, it is simply obcene. So, what is going on? Are we being visited? Is it a secret government project? If so, why do they have such a hard time covering it all up?

: . : Alien crash sights. Some people like to cut up their old family car, and call the National Enquirer for \$20 and a free ice-cream. Others do not. How about area 51? Sound familiar? There were too many witnesses to the fragmented alien craft that have parallel stories to discount. Then there is the secret government base that was there whose very existence was denied by the government for decades. Why would they deny the existence of such a large base? Beats me. It's obvious that they have something to hide. NASA, a division tightly controlled by only the US government, one that answers directly to them, isn't even allowed to image that part of the earth with their scanners, or even look down with telescopes. Military surveilance images of the compound either disappear or are so closely guarded that they don't even exist for all intensive purposes. What about spy satellites? The only pictures of Area 51 in existance are once snapped by Russian spy satellites, and those disappear as well, and show a suspicously immense base with many things inexplicable, like an overabundance of high security hangar decks.

: . : So, what is really going on out there? Well, lots of stuff, of course. Reason would dictate that there is at least 3 more intelligent, advanced alien species in this galaxy (and that is being very, very, very conservative with our 100,000,000,000 stars). And odds are, one is more advanced than us. Then why haven't we been contacted yet? I don't really know. The only answer is that they are either just not there, don't want anything to do with us, or scared. If they were scared, they would have technology barely more advanced than ours to be intimidated by us. And also, with this limited technology, would have a hard time being covert when investigating us, because we are the best at detecting things in and about our own level of advancement. What is our level of advancement when it comes to space travel, anyways? Well, that's for the next story, not this one.

: . : The information is here, and elsewhere. If you want to know, look for it, if you don't, then don't. But I warn you that ignorance is folly. Make your own decisions, I can't make them for you.
