Walks from the car and she looks up
Sees clouds and light and rain
She didn't know what she was thinking
Going back to find the old flame

Goes up the lawn from the sidewalk
Up to the old green front door
One ring and says the man in the golf shirt
"He doesn't live in this house no more."

She thinks back to when he was there
He'd smile and hold her, keep her near
He'd talk of love and Jesus Christ
He'd say He's the one who sacrificed

Goes off in hand with the address
That the older man gave to her
Back to the car and starts thinking
What am I doing this for?

She drives off into the sunset
Five lonely hours away
Pulls up into the driveway
Of a small house and says -

Who am I really looking for?
Was it him or something more?
The light she say was in his eyes
Was the love of God's Son, crucified

He'd always talk about the lamb, who was slain
Who came to save us from our death and our pain
Now searching for the answers, she's never felt so alone
As when she walked up to his home

She didn't even get to the front steps
When there he was at the door
She said, "I didn't think I would see you."
He said, "I just got back from the store."

Then the silence was greater than words
And for a moment they both looked away
He said to her "Do you know what you're chasing?"
She said "I really hoped you could say."

They went inside and talked all night
About the Way, the Truth, and the Life
She got down on her knees and prayed,
"Jesus, I want You to stay.
To stay
Please forgive me
And stay."
